That may sound like a strange greeting to those of you who visit
us for the first time, but it's the greeting we warmly offer. We believe God made
all of us to be a part of his family. So, when we get together, we're coming home,
glad to see each other, ready to celebrate the warm heroics of our Father.
You're a part of us and we're a part of you because of our Father.
When you walk through the doors at ACC, expect to be received like a brother or
sister who is coming home!

Perspectives Course to start in January '09
|
The
World Christian Movement has exploded over the past few decades. More has been accomplished
toward world evangelization in the past 40 years than in the previous 2,000, and
more will be accomplished in the next five years than the past 30! How has this
happened? What IS God’s plan, today? How is God WORKING the plan here at home and
abroad? How do YOU fit into the design?
These provocative questions and more are explored in this 15-week, three-unit
college course called “Perspectives”. Over 150 churches throughout the country will
be sponsoring the “Perspectives” program in the first quarter of 2009, and Anacortes
Christian Church is proud to be one of them. Our “Perspectives” course will run
January 12th – May 4th. Classes will be held on Monday nights, from 6:30 to 9:30
p.m. in the Fireside Room of ACC. “Perspectives” will explore how God has molded
the World Christian Movement over the past 200 years as well as explore what God
is getting done right now! The information is designed to help us all gain ground
in our outreach efforts by learning from the successes of others! Numerous testimonies
praise the course as “life changing.” Many say that just a few “Perspectives” graduates
can ignite excitement throughout an entire congregation. Scott Wesley Brown, a well-known
Christian recording artist and founder of I CARE Ministries, says: “It’s difficult
to run the race unless you know where to go. For many Christians, Christianity is
like a puzzle spilled on the floor. “Perspectives” puts it all together by showing
us the box top….It not only changed my music and ministry, but the way I live”
Each Monday night session will feature a different speaker to present the course
material in an insightful manner. Class time will be informative and interactive,
with each speaker bringing a fresh approach to their subject matter. Speakers will
arrive from across the country and from our own backyard. We’re still confirming
speakers, but those on the short list include: Graham Kerr (of Galloping Gourmet
fame); Dr. Don McCurry of “Ministry to Muslims” of Colorado Springs, Co.; Lynne
Ellis of Overlake Church, Seattle; Keith Hook of “Missions of Unreached Peoples”
of Mulkiteo; Dr. Ralph Winters, founder of the U.S. Center for World Missions; and,
our own John Douglas.
Go to the Perspective website for course information and registrations,
www.perspectives.org
The cost of the course is $250 and will cover the expense of the speakers, books
and class materials. Early registration discount of $25.00 available for those who
register before Dec. 15. Scholarships are available. Registration is NOW being accepted.

Ambassadors in Sports (AIS) Soccer Camp is July 14-19 ’09
|
Last month we told you about this unique opportunity that ACC
is hosting in lieu of our usual summertime VBS programming. AIS Soccer Camps are
designed to give young, developing players an opportunity to learn basic and advanced
soccer skills in a fun, positive and encouraging Christian environment. In addition
to excellent coaching, AIS provides a daily life-related “Team Talk” geared toward
communicating the life-changing principles found in the Bible. The camp’s philosophy
is stated thus:
“Health and fitness are not just physical, but emotional and spiritual as well.
Our camp is a Christian soccer camp and students each day will have the opportunity
to learn from examples and stories from the Bible that can be applied to every day
life. It is our desire that children are equipped to do their best in their soccer
and to understand what it means to be a winner both on and off the field.”
If you are interested in helping us with this great event, please contact Reiko
