WebThis scale is one of those theoretical tools, designed by (I assume, if it was indeed created by Dawkins) a premier communicator and intellectual leader of the study of atheism. Its purpose is to clarify and define what we mean by "atheist", much like any other set of definitions in a philosophical context.

WebIf I am a 6.9 it is reasonable to consider myself a strong atheist even when Dawkins scale states, "I am 100% sure that there is no god," as 6.9 is much closer to 7 than 6.
