Sql server shrink database reorganize files
Web18 Aug 2006 · When I choose to shrink a database there is a checkbox that says "reorganize files before releasing unused space" but it has a warning that it will decrease prformance.... When would I choose that if it decreases performance - do they mean: only while shrinking? Does it increase performance better then not choosing it, after the files are shrunk ?

Web26 Apr 2011 · No, actually it is notoriously bad for fragmenting the data. You should do a re-org after the shrink is complete. FROM MSDN: A shrink operation does not preserve the fragmentation state of indexes in the database, and generally increases fragmentation to a degree.
